Prime Time Goes the Route of MSTAR

Looks like I’m a little late to the reporting party, but better late than never: Prime Time is getting booted from UTOPIA. Apparently the company filed bankruptcy for the MSTAR subsidiary on September 3 after having pulled $2.2M out of itmonths earlier. (Yeah, I’m not sure where the money came from either.) This is after several of their other developments did the same earlier this year. Customers started losing phone service not long after that filing. After racking up $1M in unpaid bills (sound familiar?), UTOPIA wants to kick Prime Time and customers are being advised to seek other service providers.

With how heavily the company depended on private developments and how much work had to be done to fix the badly-tarnished MSTAR brand, this isn’t too surprising. The upshot is that with over a dozen other providers and at least a few offering video, nobody is entirely out in the cold.

So which ISP is going to pick up those of us with the fantastic 50/50mbps plan for the same price we where paying to MStar/PrimeTime? As a PrimeTime customer, do I need to do anything or what is the process going to be to make sure we don’t lose our connection? I kind of wondered why I had not received a bill in the last 5 months. I just kept paying the usual and my connection has continued working. I just want to make sure it stays that way.

I don’t know that anyone will be able to match that one. You’ll likely have to settle for a lower speed or a higher price.

Thanks for the info, this is the only reliable place to get up to date information on what is really going on with UTOPIA.

It would be nice if some of the other UTOPIA providers stepped up and offered good deals for all the MSTAR/Prime Time Communications customers to switch over. I’m currently weighing my options.

Anyone have anything to say about Veracity or Connected Lyfe?

I am looking for network info or even just a review of the providers.

  4. Dyle says:

I just talked to Veracity customer support. They offer two fiber optic internet service–a 15/15 mbps for 49.99 and e a 50/50 meg for 59.99.

  5. Dave says:

Connected Lyfe is offering the same $49.99/mo 50/50Mbps service.

But no one seems to know anything about either of these providers.

If you don’t want to be spammed my mail and phone calls don’t give them your info till your sure of your choice! 😉

Me too! Anyone have any info? I still have a connection and it’s working great. I just don’t want to have it disappear overnight without notice! I would use the forums here but I have been unable to get registered.
I made some posts over on Broadband Reports in hopes of some answers.
